The middle of nowhere
I open my eyes and I look around
Through the mist. All is quiet.
There’s no sound but the wind blowing.
On the deep blue, the moon is glowing.
I ask myself where I am. And why.
I try to remember the place
Where I came from. And how.
But the silence gives no answers.
I stand up, then I start walking
Towards East, the direction of hope.
With me I take a sword and a longbow
‘Cause there may be something hiding
On both sides, or even right there,
Blocking my path. But never
On my back, ‘cause that’s passed and gone
Away with all other memories.
I keep going until I find a place
Full of ice and snow. It is cold,
But soon I feel something warm moving
Right there. Then another, bigger form
Jumps from the middle of nowhere.
I stare at the creature and freeze:
It is the biggest wolf I’ve seen
Since I remember. However
It shows no aggression or fear
And lets me pass to the other side
Of the forest I now recognize.
A shy sunlight makes it greener
And gives life back to the sleeping forms.
One of them is a deer which climbs
To the top of a mountain.
There it stays for a while, looking
Above al other creatures. Then it leaves
And I follow the path it cleared.
After a while, I stop and realize
The place where I’m standing – a meadow.
The sun is now high and I hear
The songs of birds, bees and the wind.
I see that life is everywhere
In that paradise born from the mist
In the middle of nowhere.
